Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance's 2024 International Roadcheck May 14-16 Inspects 48,761 Commercial Motor Vehicles Across Canada, Mexico, and the United States With Tractor Protection Systems as the Focus Area

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance reported its 2024 International Roadcheck conducted from May 14 through May 16 inspected 48,761 commercial motor vehicles across Canada, Mexico, and the United States, with tractor protection systems and alcohol and controlled substance possession as the focus areas, and 77 percent of vehicles and 95.2 percent of drivers cleared without out-of-service violations, according to CVSA. Every commercial vehicle with air brakes used to tow a trailer with air brakes must be equipped with a tractor or towing-vehicle protection system.

Operator takeaway

Air-brake-equipped recovery trucks are still subject to tractor protection system rules. Confirm your last roadside inspection covered that valve and not just the obvious mechanical items.
